Daily Prompt: The Social Network

1 Apr

Too many social networks!Question of the day! Do you feel like you “get” social media, or do you just use it because that’s where all your friends and family are?

A little bit of both for me, peppered with other reasons.

I have a son and daughter who live in Australia. I exhausted every avenue I could to try to contact Matt and Kayla, short of hopping on a Qantas plane … because they don’t let you do that if you have no money -__-

At the time I was searching, social networks were springing up everywhere. I knew that they had a computer at home, and it was “hooked up” (as we used to say, back in the day) to the internet. So I joined every social network that I could find … MySpace, Bebo, Yahoo 360, Facebook … you name it, I had a profile there!

Eventually Kayla did find me on Facebook, but in the meantime I had become something of a social networking junkie. I had found relatives, old school and college friends, new avenues for business and people who were there just to lend an ear when I needed it.

I “get”it!
