Today’s prompt asks which blogger has influenced my own online journey – and I really only have to choose one?

Oh boy.

There have been so many bloggers from so many different sectors who I admire and follow, and many of them have influenced my online journey. And if I’m really, really pressed to choose just one, it would have to be …

Seth Godin.

Seth taught me that you never have to have writers block – after all, it’s very rare that you wake up in the morning with “speakers block”, so just write what you want to say. This is most likely the reason that my blog is a hotchpotch of thoughts rather than a bunch of essays based on one theme. And like it that way.

I also learned from Seth that a blog post doesn’t have to be long. If you can say what you need to say in one paragraph, then “fluffing it out” just for the sake of filling up more white space is unnecessary.

Think differently is a common theme in many posts, why is it human nature to go with the flow? Poke the box, shift the paradigm, be a linchpin, color outside the lines. Be a non-conformist and make a difference.

Seth’s blog is full of excellent observations, cleverly-worded posts, pearls of wisdom, inspiration and just plain old common sense. One recent post that I can certainly relate to is the Field Guide to The Meeting Troll. Maybe you’ve come across one or two?
