Today’s Daily Prompt: Tell us about a sensation — a taste, a smell, a piece of music — that transports you back to childhood.
To be honest, I don’t remember much about my childhood.
There are things that I think I remember … and if I had a chance I’d love to experience the smell of hot sand and the salty sea on a summer day at Eccles Caravan Park.
I have photographs that, if I look at them hard enough, bring back memories of those long, long summer vacations. Everyone’s caravan had a distinct smell (besides the smell of a family living in close quarters, in what essentially equates to a slow-bake oven, all summer). Aunt Mary’s caravan smelled of apples.
Oh, the music was wonderful! I’d walk around with a big ol’ cassette player held up to my ear, blasting “Sugar Baby Love” by the Rubettes, oblivious to the fact that I was burning through six C batteries on a daily basis with all the rewinding involved!
I really need to work on my memory!
